We have just spent a wonderful 2 weeks here. We were a party of friends with children aged from 6 to 19 (boys & girls) and there was enough to keep everyone occupied. The pool area is fantastic and the grounds outstanding. The property is well equipped and there was plenty of space for our party of 10 (plus a dog). Karen and Simon were really friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had all that we needed. Karen especially kept us really well informed with tips and advice. We would thoroughly recommend this place!

Thank you for taking the time to review your holiday and our accommodation. It was lovely to meet everyone and we are very pleased that you all enjoyed your holiday at La Bataille.

Our large family of 13, ranging in age from 2 to 68 and including teenagers, all really enjoyed their stay at La Belle Ferme. The house was homely and comfortable with plenty of space for us all. The pool was great and we spent most of our time in or around it, despite it being very cold water- refreshing!! The quiet neighbourhood took a bit of getting used to but it wasn't far to the nearest town of Chef Boutonne where we shopped daily for bread and did our large grocery shops. Highly recommend this gite for a complete wind-down experience.

We are glad that you enjoyed your holiday at La Bataille and it was lovely to meet you all. So pleased that you made good use of fruit from the orchard whilst there and we hope the quince marmalade turns out ok! I see you marked us down for local amenities, but it is exactly what we say it is, a gite in a small village just 3km from a town with all commercial amenities, 4 bars and a chateau. It can be a bit of a culture shock compared with busy parts of the uk, but for many, the peace and tranquility with a town very close by is just what they are looking for. We agree that the pool has been a little cooler this year due to slightly erratic weather but it has still maintained 23-24 degrees. It always feels cool when you first get in! We will however, look into solar heating for next year!

This Gite was everything we expected & more. It is very well equipped, extremely spacious & comfortably furnished. Having the large private pool and huge enclosed garden was perfect for spending lots of time outdoors. Lovely undercover patio area with a beautiful view. Enjoyed numerous BBQs. Very quiet rural setting, but only a few minutes drive from various eateries & shops in Chef Boutonne. We cannot find fault with anything on offer here, everything as was as described in the advert. Really good location to get to various tourist places. The owners Karen & Simon are genuinely nice people, that will go out of their way to help you in any way they can. We were a party of 5, all adults & all related. We arrived with 3 cars (we all live a long way apart) but there was plenty of parking. I had my 2 dogs with me, they loved being here, running around the garden as & when they pleased. I did not give the condition & cleanliness markers a 10 purely because the Gite is very old and there will always be the odd cob web and creaky floor board, it is in no way a reflection of it not being in excellent condition. In my opinion it would be impossible to keep a huge house like this immaculately clean, and then it would not be a genuine french Gite experience. We would love to return for another holiday, and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Thank you for your review. It was a pleasure to meet you and your multi-nationality family. Bella and Buddy, your lovely dogs, seemed very much at home as well! We are glad you found the property suited you well and that you all had a good holiday here. As you have said, this is an old property and has lots of old wood and stone walls which we have restored, rather than doing a pristine 'renovatation' - this is the look the want! It is old and quirky but with all mods cons and facilities, but stands up well to children and pets! We hope to welcome you again in the future!

We were a party of grandparents, children and 1 year old grandchild. We chose La Belle Ferme for the flexibility of the accommodation, and this worked really well. Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms, comfortable living areas and very well equipped kitchen. House was clean and welcoming on arrival. Karen was extremely helpful, and certainly helped make our stay a happy one. Possible downsides are lack of local amenities - we like to try different restaurants and struggled a bit to find good local eateries and the pool was a bit chilly! I think this will be addressed soon by installing new cover. Garden is huge with lots of fruit trees - we enjoyed the plums and were given some delicious plum jam. We have stayed in many houses/gites in France over the years. La Belle Ferme rates well, Comfortable and spacious and somewhere we could relax as a family. Happy to recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property and we are pleased that you all enjoyed your holiday, even though you had the only rainy day for about 5 weeks followed by a cooler last day! By their nature, gites are rural/village properties and so, like ours, are unlikely to have a selection of eateries on the doorstep! Having said that, the property is only 2-3km from the local town with 4 different eateries/bars, one of which is highly recommended. With regard to facilities, please do let us know if you feel there is something missing or not up to scratch! We will be adding an insulating cover to the pool for next year as it has been a little cooler this year and we need to be prepared for this. We do however remind guests that when the air temperature is 30+ the pool feels chilly even at 26/27 degrees. With regard to value for money, this gite sleeps 12-14 very comfortably and is aimed at larger family or 2 family groups. As your party was only 5 adults and a baby, I suspect that has impacted the value for money factor! I do discount out of the main season for smaller groups of holidaymakers. Thank you for your recommendation and lovely comments in our visitor book!
